It is good to see that their statement does not imply that they are able to prevent all incidents. They recognize that not everything can be prevented although they do take both active and reactive measures. It is nice to see this as their statement because it is consistent with their actions, in particular regarding Spider-Man, where the show has had so many delays for technology and safety concerns and AEA has stood behind their statement in looking ahead for issues but also reacting and taking the injuries seriously.

This statement provides an interesting insight into the more practical world of theater. however it is a very important that this exists, and it is a great thing that their is colaboration on a technical and actor level.

Although you have to wonder where the AEA reps were to oversee proper safety procedures before the accidents started happening on Spiderman. I may be assuming too much here, but it sounds like safety protocols were not entirely thought through on that show. Maybe AEA could have prevented at least some of those accidents if they had properly reviewed the show's safety procedures and made sure they were being followed. Their safety statement is good in theory, but they need to follow through on it and ensure that safety is a priority from the beginning.
