A Bit of Genius Design Perfects the Common Tape Measure

Gizmodo.com: "Anyone who's had to measure anything with a tape measure knows the annoyance of losing your grip because of that infuriatingly small hook. So why not make the hook bigger? Why did it take so long to think of this?

Holy cow! Why has this not been thought of before? Such a tiny fix, like a bigger hook on a tape measure, makes such a big difference. In a business as time sensitive as theatre, efficiency is of utmost importance. If the measuring of lumber takes a third less time due to better tape measures, then a huge block of time could be knocked off of the building of a set. Better tape measures also means more accurate measurements, so maybe the flat you made will actually fit through the door. If only everything could be solved with something as small as an increase in the size of a tape measure hook.
