Dance - Sinatra, Focused on Sex and Sizzle

NYTimes.com: "The choreography for the new dance musical “Come Fly Away” is overwrought. That’s hardly surprising; it’s by Twyla Tharp, whose artistic temperament has always been marked by ambition and excess, often with exciting results. It’s hard to imagine anyone in the audience falling asleep for a moment: the music, nearly all Sinatra songs, is loud, and the dancing’s energy is whiz-slam high."

OK, I saw the title; 'Dance-SINATRA, focused on sex and sizzle' and thats all that I needed to know. I read the article just for proprieties sake. Haha, yes even though the title drew me in, I am a die hard Frank Sinatra fan, I found the article very interesting. The fact that the routines apparently seem boring and uncompelling surprises me. But I think that I am biased because I would love all the dancing since it would all be improved if need be by sound of Frank surrounding them. I also love Michail Barishnikov, and I quickly youtubed the video of him dancing to Frank and absolutely loved it, which only goes to prove that yes I am incredibly biased, but at least I know it

I always find it amusing when a critic overly critiques a piece. The author never really said the piece was boring, but he certainly did say the choreography was close to.. was it pornographic? I wonder if this comment was based in reality, or if it was simply a prudish journalist watching a slightly racy show that, with modern audiences, would otherwise be accepted.

It seems odd that an artist as well respected and "classy" as Sinatra would be turned into a highly sexual new musical.
