Playing musical instruments may improve reading
Telegraph: "Neuroscientists have found that musicians benefit from heightened brain activity that allows them to process information from their eyes and ears more efficiently than non-musicians."

This is extremely cool. If the study she is conducting shows that training kids in music can actually help them read then there is a potential for a huge shift in early education curriculum. This would be great for schools that do not have their own means to have music programs because it would become a priority. It is also interesting to me that the same parts of the brain are used for these two different functions. I also wonder how much you can do after people get older. And if it would be helpful for people with reading/learning disabilities.
