No need to inspect this general

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Nikolai Gogol's comedy 'The Inspector General' has provided dependable satire of government malfeasance and greed since its debut in 1836."

Of the three reviews of Inspector General, this is definitely the saddest. It is so short, that it barely mentions anything. Saying that the show "falls short of its goals to amuse or enlighten," seems way off. I thought the show was quite amusing, poking fun at politicians today and how ridiculous the whole system is.

I disagree with this review over the significance of the projections. While Ms. Carter may find they take away from the action happening on stage, I believe they greatly helped and showed how connected what was happening in the play was to what is happening in the real world.

Wow, this review slams the play into the ground. I was on run crew for this show and have heard many different reviews of it. I read this review and the one from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and the show was not received very well. One of my classmates said that it was the best show that they had seen at CMU but these people would definitely disagree. I never got to see the show all the way through but I did hear the audience laughing a great deal. I was on costume crew and it was one of the best experiences. I loved running costumes. From that I heard a story from a senior girl. She was collecting money for showcase after the show when a old woman came up to her and gave her $20. The woman said it was a horrible and offensive script but that the acting was amazing.
