Public Theater takes the production up a notch for "A Midsummer Night's Dream"

Post Gazette: "'I have had a dream past the wit of man to say what dream it was. Man is but an ass if he go about to expound this dream.'
Few have followed the advice of Bottom the weaver about 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' the expansive Shakespeare comedy about love and magic in which he plays such a marvelous role."

I love Midsummer Night's Dream (And have been involved in entirely too many productions of it), and I don't think i will ever tire of seeing it. This production in particular looks well acted (I enjoyed David Whalen last time i saw him), as well as well directed, capturing the essence of Midsummer very well. How can i not resist the escape from Pittsburgh Winter to Midsummer? I will definitely be going to see this production at some point.

Speaking as someone who has been both backstage and on stage of a production of MSND, I would like to echo the statements of Brian. The witty writing and plot line provide a great experience not matter what the set or style. But from the sounds of this production, the show looks like it will be incorporatng many theaterical elements which will onl enhance the production. I love the idea of the actors entering from a multitude of places. This will givethe audience the lost and chaotic feel from the play.. I would love to attend a performance of this production.

MSND will always be a crowd-pleaser, and especially in these times, crowd-pleasers are a must-have for most theaters. It's light and fun and beautiful; bringing the production out into the audience will give the audience a close-up view of the design elements and bring them closer to the positive energy of the actors. I expect this to be a very popular production.

I've never actually been on a Production of Midsummer Night's Dream, but it seems to be one of the most popular plays to do, especially in the last five years. I love the thought of them using every possible egress during the show, although I'm sure the SM's blocking pages where very interesting with that many entrances and exits.
