The telethon on Friday should be quite the intense show, judging by the number of people they have scheduled to perform (so far). To mount such a large production that will be seen on so many networks around the world almost seems unprecedented. There will be almost nothing else on TV that night. The production must be huge and likely pretty complicated, especially when pulling it off in only one week. I look forward to seeing what they do with it, and i hope that it will achieve its fund raising goals for Haiti.

The one things that has always impressed me about the arts and entertainment industries in this country is their willingness to assist in times of humanitarian need and make their opinions known. At least this is what I remember. The arts community has never been shy of taking a stance and getting together behind a cause. What is impressive is that the TV networks are getting in on the action as well. As Brian says, this promises to be quite a show. The logistics to mount such a coordinated large-scale event in such a short amount of time must be immense. If they don't do anything else, these events in such high profile places will at least bring the issue to light in a more personal way that the nightly news.
