In Lititz, Pa., a Haven for Rock ’n’ Roll Entrepreneurs

NYTimes.com: "This small town in Pennsylvania Dutch country, in the midst of cornfields and dairy farms, would seem an unlikely home for a warehouse filled with the detritus of rock concerts past and future — a large section of the stage for the next Black Eyed Peas tour, the sets for an Elton John concert and gigantic lips from the Rolling Stones."

I thought this article was really interesting because it highlighted the dominance of local businesses in the town beyond just Tait Towers. It seems to me that a lot of small towns (in PA) are becoming overwhelmed with chain businesses. It's nice to know that this one thrives on local businesses that have a large appeal. I like the fact that it is possible to make an impact in places other than large cities.

It's great to hear about this little town and all the businesses that for a few reasons. Seeing these businesses that have been built from the ground-up like Wilbur Chocolate, and still residing in this small town. Also, seeing this audio and stage companies who have been around like Clair and Tait Towers. It's great to see all these people with a hard work effort be succesful and have a town around them that supports them. Finally, I just have to say a quick thing that this is really cool because I've been to a few of these businesses previously because I was born in Lititz, PA, and I think it's really cool seeing an article about my little hometown

Having worked in Lititz, it's amazing what kind of people and jobs are there. While I'm constantly hearing stories from locals of "i wish i just had _a_ job", when jobs come up in Lititz, there's more than a 50/50 chance that they'll be in something interesting. There are many manufacturers in the area as well, not just entertainment and chocolate companies. Johnson and Johnson, DART, and a few other big names are local to Lititz.

This just shows the synchronicity that can come from a successful company developing in an area that encourages that development. Once one is there it doesn't take long for similar companies to start near it, particularly if they all fit niches that work well together. With the combination of Tait, Clair, and Atomic Design a producer can tool up for most of a tour all in one small town, and it doesn't hurt that all of them have great reputations in the business. Looking at the older businesses that the article also talked about makes it clear that this also isn't the first time this has happened there, and from the sound of it it probably won't be the last either.
