It is great to see all sorts of organization pitching in to help those in Haiti. The pictures in the news show such devastation to the area, everything is gone. Knowing that organizations like Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the Shubert Organization, and Disney are trying to do their part in this effort as a way to get theatregoers to be involved is great.

I have been so pleased to see support for Haiti nearly everywhere I go. It makes me proud to know that for all the topics America seems to disagree with lately, its citizens are always capable of coming together whenever they're needed. Large corporations like the Broadway League can especially do their part to provide awareness, and they step up to that task beautifully.

Although I agree that it is great to see organizations come together for a good cause in a hurry, I can't help but feel that some efforts are obligatory. In this particular case, with the rising ticket prices and exorbitant amount of money being spent on each show on Broadway, one would think that a large industry like Broadway could afford to spare some change. It's more unfortunate, however, that this is a common outlook or commentary rather than appreciating the help.
