For the love of 'Plaid'

Post Gazette: "Plaid is back in fashion, but 'Forever Plaid' has never gone out of style.
For those who missed 'Forever Plaid' during its initial run at CLO Cabaret in 2004-'05, a quick recap: The musical tells the story of The Plaids, a boy band killed when the car carrying the four boys collides with a busload of fans headed to the Beatles' first appearance on 'The Ed Sullivan Show.' The Plaids are miraculously able to return and perform the gig that they were denied because of the fatal crash."

I have not seen this particular production of "Forever Plaid" but I have seen the show. It's a feel good piece of theatre that relives a fantastic era through music. People sometimes like to go to the theatre to relax and not have to process but just enjoy the story and music and be entertained. "Forever Plaid" will most likely always be a crowd pleaser because it does all of these things. Even if you weren't alive when the music was popular we are all still familiar with the songs and time period and representation of a less complicated time.

This show never goes away, and I'm very stunned that so many city's having their little production going on. Charlotte has been revamping "Forever Plaid" for about 3 years now in the same theatre, just with different casts. It seems like every time I do a show there, I see an advertisement for it in the program.

The show is a crowd pleaser and it has dance and music. And, audiences just want to pay money and be entertained these days, which is what this show does.
