Good Theater Business News?!

Chicagoist: "So as we were flipping through our Wall Street Journal this morning (O.K., O.K., it was a press release), we were surprised and excited to hear that there is some hope out there for the business we call show. Our very own Steppenwolf Theatre Company has been named on of the top 15 places to work by the Wall Street Journal’s Top Small Workplaces 2009."

it is greet to hear of a theater that got on the top 15 small business in the usa accosting to the wall street journal. it great that this theater is giving all of this good benefits for there employes. also the way that they teat there employes seems like that is also very good. so i would enjoy worrying for this theater company. it is great to hear of them getting on this list but it would be nice if more theaters got on the list.

Ahh Steppenwolf. Way to go! For a company that started out small they have become a national name and garnered national respect. They do good work and I am really pleased to see the business world acknowledging the world of theatre as well as this particular company. They treat their employees as part of their family and they have produced a lot of quality work in their day. Hopefully the world will begin to realize that we work just as hard as they do and have just as "legitimate" jobs as well.

I love this article! With all the naysaying about how hard it is to be in our industry, and how we're all going to be living out of dumpsters for the rest of our lives, it's nice to hear that some orgaqnizations are really giving to their employees. I have always been impressed by Steppenwolf, but now I'm really impressed. I think that this shows that there are some places in our industry you can go and get the same benefits you would if you were in sales or finance.
