Mutiny in the ranks at Chicago's American Theater Company
chicagotribune.com: "In a move that rips apart one of Chicago's most venerable off-Loop theaters, almost all of the acting ensemble members of the American Theater Company say they are severing connections with the institution many of them helped found 25 years ago."

I really get annoyed when people try to mandate diversity. If you have to look really hard and search really far to get people of "different backgrounds" then you are obviously not representing your location very well. This is what ripped apart a fine theatre company. I like ensemble companies everyone feels involved and as a result the shows tend to be really spectacular as every single person working on the show feels like they are a part of it and give 100%. To attempt to dictate who is in the ensemble is a horrible idea. I don't see the American Theatre Company recovering quickly from this. The American Blues Theatre on the other hand will probably do just fine.
