Pitt, CMU plays excel in exposing sexual mores

Post Gazette: "It features slick acting, led by three faculty members who have the chutzpah to get up on stage with their talented students and play the foolish old husbands. Call them short (Matthew Gray), fat (Michael Chemers) and doddering (Anthony McKay) -- they know how to milk a scene with spot-on timing."

I agree with the author, I definitely loved Cuckholds. It was a great time, kept the audience laughing, and the physicality was amazing. The gags were great, I think the physicality is what made a modern audience relate to this show.

Cuckholds was a good show for CMU I think, its important for us to do stylized theatre like this every now and then to keep up our versatility. I think this season has been very good with the diversity of the shows, we've had avant-garde, farce, musicals, dramas. I'm excited to see what shows we will be doing next year.

Like what Liz and Megan said, Cuckolds was a fantastic exercise for the entire drama department. I loved seeing faculty members acting with students on stage. I am so happy to see that newspapers like the Post Gazette are recognizing our risk taking by modernizing a 1681 farce. Bravo!

I was really happy we did something so accessible as Cuckolds. I actually managed to get people from other majors to come and see it and they enjoyed the production immensely. It's somewhat interesting to me that CMU is doing such a fluffy (although hilarious) show while Pitt is putting on Angels in America.
