Chicago Shakespeare's Twelfth Night Will Be Flooded, Starting March 29

Playbill News: "Chicago Shakespeare Theatre's Courtyard Theater on Navy Pier will be flooded with 7,000 gallons of water to create the coast of the imaginary world of Illyria, where Twelfth Night's characters are washed ashore at the top of the Shakespeare comedy."

I find it interesting that they chose to set this piece on a pier. Of course it is relevant to chicagoans - and it adds humor to have built a pier in a theatre on a pier - but what I dont understand, is why a pier is relevant to Twelfth Night. I'm sure they could justify it. But I honestly dont see the connection between a deserted island... and a pier.
