that is pretty impressive to see, although i feel that the images they chose for the article did not do the light show justice. It is interesting to see how quickly LED lights are sweeping the entertainment and amusement industries. They seem to be the thing that goes really far for not as much money. The things that have been pulled off by simply combining a large number of LED's has astonished many, and from the looks of it, they will only get bigger, better and more spectacular.

I don't know about that last comment about MIDI sequences to christmas songs those are generally nice and flashy but pretty dumb and there is little motivation behind the cues. I would prefer the pure spectacle of that walkway they show that is lit up with LEDs. It seems like this is one area where LED lamps are really useful in terms of length of lamp, power, durability and troubleshooting.

I like how the guy who wrote the article 1) assumes that these are "holiday" (read: Christmas) lights. That, and he yearns for MIDI. Who does that?

Its amazing how many lights there were. The sheer cost and sset up must be awesome. Its an impresive show that would be much more difficult without the LEDs. The ability to control the specific color (by determinig the size of the gold particle) makes LEDs very customizable.

This is really an interesting use of LED Technology. While it is great to see this technology making its way into the mainstream media, I can't help but to want replacements for conventional fixtures with LED Lamps. Where's the affordable LED driven Source Four? And yes I know, its not cost efficient or do we have diodes that can produce that many lumens in that small a space, but even so, I would much rather see an article on here saying that someone has created a LED equivalent to the 575w HPL. Alas, I will have to wait.

That's really cool! I think it's interesting that they are using the LEDs in a way that theatrical fixtures aren't these days--just as individual LEDs. Some really beautiful stuff here. It almost reminds me some of Seurat's pointillist work. The cuing of these lights looks to be very cool, I hope to find some videos of this, too.

It's gizmodo. It's full of snark. They're being sarcastic. leave it up to Gawker to cover something that innovative and beautiful.

Wow, thats f***ing fantastic! Its really neat to see what a larger budget can do. LED's are incresingly becoming more and more popular. I would like to see what they come up with in the future.
