Yes because the thing to do with our money when we are in a large recession and have a huge national debt and deficit is pay for the arts in a country we currently occupy. Bush has never been a big supporter of the arts, why start now? Maybe to take focus off the war he started. Stupid people make me mad, and Bush infuriates me.

Although our occupation in Iraq is no longer necessary, and rather stupid, I think that our attempt to promote a growth of the arts is a good thing. Yeah, I hate that we are using that money there instead of helping our own country, but I think the Bush administration is trying to go out on a somewhat nicer note than with what they came into Iraq doing. Its great that we are trying to spread the arts, and integrate it with other cultures, but if our government has not been focused on the advancement of our own arts, why should they devote attention and resources to the development of arts in other countries?

A cultural protection society is the last thing a country with struggling infrastructure and absolutely no financial security needs.

Just sayin.

well, it's a good thought. and we all are a huge group who supports arts and culture. but it's the timing and priority are just.. not ideal. i'm sure there are people who can really use those money somewhere more productive at this time around.
