'Spring Awakening' to close

Variety: "Rock tuner, with music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater, has so far logged Rialto grosses of nearly $52 million. Teen-centric storyline, about 18th century German adolescents grappling with sex and death, helped the show win a base of young fans during the course of its run."

Funny that as soon as they pop in a star from television, the show plops. Hunter Parrish was I guess the producer's big idea to boost revenue - but even that couldn't save them from being totally f***ed at the box office. It is indeed a sad day for the original musical (though some could argue that Spring Awakening isn't entirely original because it draws heavily from Fraz Weibikind's text).

Yes, so sad it has to close. Its unfortunate that they felt as though the weren't getting enough revenue from it, there are still hundreds of thousands of people that need to see this show. I remember my first experience watching it being profound, it really spoke to me at that age.

I hope the tour is successful and is able to reach more people than those fortunate enough to see it in NY. Funny, I just found out one of my middle school friends is going to be playing the part of Ernst, Ben Moss.
