'7 (x 1) Samurai': David Gaines Skewers Skillfully

washingtonpost.com: "If the idea of attending a mime performance makes you want to impale yourself on a wakizashi, you should head to the Warehouse Theater, now housing a helium-souled spoof titled '7 (x 1) Samurai.'"

As a fan of the movie 7 Samurai, I'm not sure if I like this idea or am somewhat put off by the concept. I like spoofs, mockery, and parodies, but based on the description of 7(x1) Samurai in the article I almost feel like the part of me who likes the movie might be offended some. 7 Samurai is one of the greatest (and unfortunately longest) movies I know that actually was capable of making the leap from the Asian movie world to America.Just based on the mood and message of the original movie, I don't feel like the overall plot would really transfer well to a one person performance piece. After all, part of the appeal of the original movie was that it had SEVEN very amazing characters, not just one.

This sounds so fun and innovative. I love to hear about humorous and light hearted performances that take a very high level of skill and talent to carry out.

I have never really sat through an entire mime/clown performance but this sounds like an enjoyable evening. I think having the plot for Seven Samurai already in my head makes for a very different experience than if I was someone who has never seen the movie before.
