Share Those Big Ideas!
Sightlines: "The 12th Biennial Tech Expo will be a featured part of the 2009 Cincinnati Conference & Stage Expo, and good ideas are sought. Developed a unique device, process, tool or technique? Found a creative use for a new (or old) material that others might find useful? Ideas from all facets of the entertainment industry are welcome: scenery, scenic art, costumes, properties, lighting, sound, stage management, etc."

I think that it is great that the theater community is collaborating about tech. The desire to make theater more high tech is important to furthering theater.
Theatre, and the people involved in it continue to prove that innovation and change are very important in order to keep and industry successful and interesting for both spectators and those involved. Theatre is a great playground that lends itself perfectly to the integration of technology and new things into its more traditional aspects, often with incredible results. Expos like this are a great opportunity to showcase all the great new ideas that have the potential to continue to change theatre, and spark even more great ideas.
I been going to USITT since 2002 and even if I would ditch the occasional session, I'd always go over to the tech expo. Have to admit, alot of it was like, ok, that's sorta interesting but there were always a couple rare gems that were really interesting. There was a pair of pneumatic angel wings one year that were pretty darn cool, and the retractable grass was fun. But nataliemark is right that it's awesome that this exists and we are able to collaborate about new fun ways we found to do something.
