Rodgers and Hammerstein Owners Restructure Company; Potential Sale of Assets

Stage-directions: "Owners of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization are reportedly restructuring the company, a venture that could includes a major auction of hundreds of its classic musical titles such as “Oklahoma!” and “The King and I.” The company restructure could also result in a potential sale of the company, the New York Post reports."

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the money as the article alludes to estate planning. Hopefully something good comes of the sale.

You have to wonder what interest non theatrical companies have with the works, and if it will be beneficial for a company that is not traditionally theatrical to control interests in this type of work. I think it will be a more corporate attitude when it comes to rights.

i just hope the company does not break into pieces and the rights to the shows are divided in different organizations. i hope the tied-up rights to the show gets more loosen up and have different productions in the TV & Film, because some of their shows are just classic and great.
