Daniel Radcliffe in ‘Equus’ on Broadway, Stripped of That Wizardry

NYTimes.com: "DRESSED in a leather jacket and hunched antisocially over his cellphone, Daniel Radcliffe could have been any other disaffected teenager adrift in gadget-world. But suddenly he looked up and leapt to his feet as if prodded by Emily Post herself."

I havent been this excited to see a show in a long time. I have seen Equus once before done by a local theatre company and it was an intense experience but seeing it with Daniel Radcliff (an old time crush) and on broadway... just got me really excited!! I liked the article and what it had to say about this somewhat novis actor. Being one of the worlds most known child stars for his work only in Harry Potter, I think the exposure is good towards the media that he is recieving from this show. They honestly didnt have one bad thing to say about the actor and that shows a lot of maturity I think. Even middle-aged actors to day have attitudes and they are extremely unbecoming on them. But, I am more than excited to see this show!!!

I agree with Paige that Daniel Radcliffe's fame is an asset to the show. Perhaps young Harry Potter fans might see the show to see Daniel and decide that they love theatre. All I have to say is good for Daniel Radcliffe. The review sounded wonderful and will be a positive thing for theatre as a whole.

I really want to see this show... I am looking at tickets online for it right now. I have to admit, I'm sure the show is good, but really I just want to see if everything they say about Daniel Radcliffe's performance is true. I really want him to be a bigger actor than Harry Potter (not that I don't love HP). It sounds like he's on the young actors who seems to have his head on straight. He can't be making much money on Broadway compared to his multi-million fortune from Harry Potter, so I have alot of respect for him for that.

I have to admit that Daniel Radcliffe really rubs me the wrong way. However, this article changed my opinion drastically. He seems not only extremely level headed, but remarkably intelligent. I hope he continues to grow as an actor (and I hope the next Harry Potter movie isn't terrible).

Random Tidbits:
Knowing the Harry Potter fandom, I am surprised his "stalker" was nonexistent.

This is a quite excellent example of why I am not particularly fond of Daniel Radcliffe's acting.

I also agree with both Paige and Allison that Dan's addition to the play has brought it so much more publicity and yes i too want to see it. The part that i found interesting was his strategy to transition from child star to adult actor. I agree with the article that most actors go about this ,given very difficult process of sometimes trying to hard an over doing it. I can't think of a perfect example right off the top of my head right now but the point is that this is a rampant problem in the industry today. I'm proud of Dan and how he has successfully navigated this particularly transitional and pivotal part of his career. That is the mark of a truly extraordinary actor.

Daniel Radcliffe is probably going to have the hardest transition into adult film star. He's still rather young and it's good to see that he's making conscious efforts to start this uphill climb in his career. He'll always be known as Harry Potter which is a hard icon to shake, especially when it was his break out role. I have no interest in seeing Equuis but all the hype about Radcliffe has got me curious about his potential. It's his first REAL role, not six movies of the same emotions because Harry Potters are all the same. There is awesome potential in those flicks and I think his appearance on Extras even showed a glimpse of his range, but it's good to see him in a challenging play. It's humbling/healthy for his career.
