Aspiring actors failing to take advantage of stage experience

ReviewJournal.com: "Whenever I go to local acting classes, or Screen Actors Guild seminars, I'm always amazed at the number of faces I don't know. I'm a theater critic. I see nearly every local play. Shouldn't I know most of the actors in this town?
I've come to learn what I think is a sad fact. Most Vegas thespians want to be movie stars, and movie stars only."

I think that this is a very good point. A lot of very excellent and famous movie actors started out, or continue to work in theatre. I just read an article about Alec Baldwin, and he still loves to do theatre, and in fact, doesn't enjoy doing movies and tv nearly as much. I think that young actors need to realize that theatre is often an important stepping stone to the movie and tv world, where you can make connections as well as hone your skills.
