CMU hosts gaming convention weekend

Pitt News: "The School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University and CMU's Entertainment Technology Center will host a two-day video game symposium Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 1. The symposium will feature discussions led by game developers, artists and researchers to investigate the current perspective of video games - specifically their relevance as an art form."

I find it really interesting that they are approahing video games from the perspective of meaning and art. Obviously there is a lot of creativity and art like things in all video games, though I never imagined that there was an entire community of people trying to create games that were much more meaningful. Somewhat like we experience in the theatre world, where there is meaningful legitimate theatre, but the same tools and methods are often used for lass meaningful entertainment value productions.
