Western Pennsylvania high schools get 2008 musicals in gear

Post Gazette: "The annual onrush of high school spring musicals has just started, establishing a beachhead in late February in promise of sunnier days to come. Here they are, 112 Southwestern Pennsylvania high musicals arranged chronologically by week, and within each week, in order of first performance and then length of run (shorter runs first). Note that some shows also run a second weekend."

I'm surprised to find such a complete list and breakdown of high school performances in an editorial like the Post Gazette. I would expect something from the neighborhood paper, however it's interesting that High School performances are put into this spotlight . I know for a fact that back home in Illinois we were never put into the tribune, in fact, we would be lucky to get in the libertyville press or whatever it is. I wouldn't be surprised if universities looked in on these articles for prospects.

Yeah, I agree with Anthony. It's really interesting that the Post Gazette chose to breakdown all of the performances going on- shows a real dedication to the local schools. However, I would have found an analysis of the shows interesting. Just scanning the list showed a lot of Guys and Dolls, Footloose and Beauty and the Beast. It's a pretty diverse set of shows.

Agreed. Aren't there other things going on? I didn't really think that high school theater was all that big in Pittsburgh. Does the Gazette do the same run-down on university theater? They should...I bet we a better :-) ok, thats kinda mean
