A Raisin in the Sun

New York Times: "IN the shabby living room of a Chicago apartment a frustrated young chauffeur dreams of owning a business and buying pearls for his wife. His fiery sister, a college student, dreams of becoming a doctor. His weary mother dreams of a nice home for them all, and his pregnant wife dreams of just holding on until their poverty eases."

what interests me is how well this play and story will translate to a tv special with commercials, close-ups, etc. i think i would have a difficult time connecting with the story if my view was constantly being shifted and interrupted.

By airing the story on television, this show might have a chance at gathering new audiences. It's most important to reach new minds because of what this author thoroughly argues in his review: the stories from "A Raisin in the Sun" can be applicable to any time period. Shows thrive off of reaching a diverse audience, I feel A Raisin in the Sun has always had that potential, whether on the stage or off.
