The Week in Tools: Toolmonger Top 5

Toolmonger: "Last week was a busy one here at Toolmonger. If you’ve been spending time in the shop — you should! — and you didn’t have a chance to keep up with Toolmonger last week, we suggest you start with these posts, which our readers helped to select"

This week's batch seems to be a lot less useful than usual. The wire bending jig is cool, but I don't see it doing anything that you can't do with pliers or a scrap of metal. The watch tool kit is also cool, but the only useful thing in it is the spring bar remover if you already have precision screwdrivers. The doorstops are just that. I understand their use but they don't really seem to be special. The scraper is big, but seems to be designed in a way that would facilitate self injury, and the table saw, with 3" blade, can't cut bigger than 1x and i doubt would be able to get through plywood easily.

This batch is pitiful. The only possibly useful things are the glue scraper, which is a stretch. The only use that might have is scraping glue...The mini table saw is interesting and small and would be fine for model makers, but for a shop, not useful at all. If anything it might be useful for smaller props projects, but since we have a good table saw already why get a smaller one.
