More money....That's all anyone ever wants. It would seem that in different industries, people would desire different perks from their business. However, the entertainment industry, similar to say, the steel industry, is always in it for the money. I'm still not able to comprehend whether thats a good or bad thing.

Whether its good or bad, I understand why the guild feels a need to negotiate new terms now that media is changing the entertainment industry even more. We have a lot of new ways to get at media and entertainment, even within the last few months (watching Television online, for example), that it seems reasonable that things would need to be reevaluated by all sides. However, I wonder at whether a strike is really necessary, or just some reasonable negotiating. This article doesn't really make it clear to what extreme the guild is being "hurt" by the current contract (or expired contract) terms and if a strike is appropriate.

Everything is about money and power these days. You can't blame the Writers Guild for wanting more money. They are the creative power behind the television and film industry really. But on the other hand why should the studios give away what they have. They aren't getting anything more from writers but they are giving up some of their profits. Really everyone loses in a strike so the studio really has to decide how much it wants to lose in this battle with the writers.
