TOUGH STEP FOR 37 ARTS

NY Post: "McCollum and Seller's state-of-the-art off-Broadway theater - 37 Arts, which is also home to Baryshnikov's dance studio and foundation - is being foreclosed on by the company that built it, The Post has learned."

This is so sad! This builder is just as bad as all the striking going on right now, taking something that should be settled through reasonable negotiating with extreme measures that hurt a lot worse with little benefitial outcome for anyone. I hate how people are driven to such extremes by money--because of the lousy builders interested in more money, all of the arts are dragged down with them, worrying about money as much as anything else. If the world was perfect, art could exist without all the strings of these other industries and worry about "popularity" or the size of the audience seperate from money.
On a different note, I love this picture of Baryshnikov. He is so incredible! I wonder just how much this action would affect his company, since he's such an established artist?

Its a really nice facility, the company I worked for this summer did the acoustics for the theater spaces as well as the dance and rehearsal studios. They seemed really confused though and unorganized when we went in to meet with them. Many of the decisions they were making seemed near sighted and illogical with what they were requesting. But it was cool to meet Baryshnikov.
