The Beebo Brinker Chronicles

New York Times: "That’s the umbrella title for six novels that are a touchstone of lesbian culture. Written by Ann Bannon from 1957 to 1962, the books were distributed as pulp — meaning they were printed on cheap paper, were peddled at drugstores and bus stations, and received no mainstream press — but sold hundreds of thousands of copies."

It saddens me that the company members had to raise the money for this production themselves. It just goes to show that the gay rights movement still has a long way to go.

I think it is nice, however, that new things are being performed as we speak. Not only would it fascinate me just to see the show itself, but I would love to see the reaction of those around me who are also experiencing it. It always amazes me that you and your neighbor could see the same exact show, but it ends up not being the same at all. I think a performance like this would definately give way to various interpretations and reactions, all of which may be helpful to the director.
