Bandages Made From Real Duct Tape

Toolmonger: "Remember how Sean described his superglue weakness? Mine’s duct tape. I’ve even used it as a bandage in a pinch, but here’s a product that makes my temp solution legit: Nexcare Duct Tape Bandages. Now you can cover up that boo-boo while still looking like the the tough guy (or righteous babe) you are."

i'd personally like to see gaff-tape bandages. ones that won't leave sticky residue

That's an interesting marketing turn. It really is band-aids for adults. But don't adults buy the traditional band-aids. I realize this is Nexcare and not Band-Aid but it's the same thing really. What is the benefit of wearing a duct tape looking bandage. It's still a bandage. It sticks out more because it's gray instead of skin colored. And you can still be given a hard time for it. You might as well use gauze and real duct tape. Now when they come out with gaff tape bandages that's a different story.

These aren't even real duct tape, and they don't look that convincing. Gaff tape bandages are a great idea. My high school ran out of band-aids sometime last fall, so for most of the year we all would just put a piece of paper towel over the cut/scrape/burn/whatever and cover/wrap with gaff (or spike, in a pinch) tape.

jesus. duct tape bandages? really? REALLY? 3m is taking over the world. now they're covering our wounds. tomorrow, they're destroying our children...not sure what that means, but the more i've been alive, the more i've realized that some people have a downright FETISH for duct tape. yes, a fetish. not surprising, most of those people spend 23 hours a day within, GASP, the school of drama

I think the only advantage of a duct tape bandage would be it might actually stay on. When I'm working and I have a band aid on my hand or something, it will always come off, mostly becuase the reason I got the wound in the frist place was because i was using that hand. Hopefully the only purpose of these bandages for duct tape lovers is that they are in fact stronger, because I would imagine that they don't really blend in well.

I guess if it works, then you can use them...don't know if I'd buy it as name brand "Duct Tape Bandages," but certainly it makes sense. I'd probably look for some super glue first since that's what it's original purpose was...that and I not exactly sure I would like having to take it off.

I think it is a great idea if it is sticky enough not to fall off while I am working, and like many of you mentioned, does not leave a sticky residue after.
But yes, I will still look at the prices of band aid to see if there are cheap ones, as to buying Duct Tape bandage for $4.

It seems like 3M is simply expanding their product base without having to expand their materials base. The product fits nicely into a niche market. In any case, I'd buy bandages that don't sweat off any day.

It seems like the manly way to patch that scratch. Though it does make sense to produce a band-aid for people who do physical labor, because there is nothing worse than band-aids you constantly have to replace because they slide off when you sweat, get wet, or get dirty. But on the other hand, maybe 3M is just running out of new products to put on the market. They have enough money that they can just do what they want and see if it sinks or floats.

Yes! exactly what I want when I cut myself, a duck tape band-aid. I often think, what would make this painful situation better? I know! I’ll rip out the hair in the surrounding area! That will make it feel better! For real though, when I cut myself I just want the cut to heal. I’m not really concerned with looking like a badass. I personally like the nice soft fabric band-aids. They leave my hair intact even if they do make me look lame.

Hey! I like Elmo band-aids...

I feel like these are akin to...the entire warehouse stock of Hot Topic. It's cool and kind of badass when you're wearing an actual spiked dog collar and authentic concert tee, but when it's pre-packaged and labeled "hardcore"...kind of loses a little bit of its edge.
