How To Negotiate Freelance Pay For Non-Negotiators

lifehack.org: "A fundamental skill to learn for any freelance work is pay negotiation. If you don’t get good at this you can be sure not to get as much as you should."

At the beginning of the summer i worked two weeks loading in an outdoor concert back home. As i was working exclusively with full time free lancers, being the only student on the job i learned an important lesson about freelance pay.
The freelancers were getting about $23 an hour, and i inferred that this great wage existed because they spend so much time being unemployed, that they need alot of money when they do work. And if everyone has that same philosophy, the average freelance fee stays very high.
