Two Musical Theatre Writers Earn $100,000
Backstage: "Jeremy Desmon and Joe Iconis have won this year's Kleban Awards, one of the most prestigious and lucrative annual grants for writers who work in musical theatre. Desmon, a graduate of Stanford and the NYU/Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, won the $100,000 prize for librettists. He wrote the musical comedy The Girl in the Frame, which was produced at Goodspeed Musicals' Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn., and had a reading recently at Manhattan Theatre Club that starred Hunter Foster."
