"Mermaid" casting, sales make splashy week

DenverPost.com: "It was a huge week for the Denver-born, Broadway-bound 'The Little Mermaid,' as principal casting was announced and ticket sales got off to a blazing start.
'All of us are all really excited with our cast,' said director and former Denverite Francesca Zambello, 'and of course it's an incredible event of serendipity that Sierra is a Denver native.'"

I was surprised (and really excited) to see that Sherie Rene Scott is going to be playing Ursula. She's pretty awesome. I saw her in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and I found a poster of this album over winter break at Tower records the day it closed. It's now up on the wall in my room at home. I'm pretty sure it cost less than a dollar. Very cool.

I imagine there were a few people pulling for CMU alum Emily Skinner who did a cover of Poor Unfortunate Souls that is rather good. During her visit to the university, however, she stated that she wasn't interested in the role. Oh well.

P.S. I love being enough of a musical theatre dork to be able to read an announced cast list and look up names in iTunes and hear what nearly everyone sounds like.
