50 Artists to Receive $50K Grants

Backstage: "A new foundation dedicated to supporting American artists will award $2.5 million in grants on Dec. 4 in a ceremony at Lincoln Center in New York — 50 gifts of $50,000 each to individuals in all fields of the arts, including theatre, dance, and the media arts (film, television, and radio)."

Glad to know there are more people being willing to support artists. Usually, the artists don't have easy life and don't have stable income. But they are promoting and creating human civilization and history!

Hope this foundation will continue supporting the artists and won't cut the amount of grant! Some organization would decrease the amount year after year.

it's injteresting that americans have a strong belief in the arts but don't support them in a lot of their monetary donations. it's good ot see that artists are givin money to experiment to continue the art forms.
as mr. holland says in mr. holland's opus "Well, I guess you can cut the arts as much as you want, Gene. Sooner or later, these kids aren't going to have anything to read or write about."

this is quite a step forward. it's exciting to know that there are still people willing to support the work of people in new fields to keep developing and producing work that's interesting and fresh. it will be interesting to see what the future of art is and whether it becomes more like scientific findings and IP. Good to know there's still some support out there for artists.
