Off B'way trip to bountiful

Variety.com: "Most legit nonprofits struggle to bring in new auds, but Off Broadway's Signature Theater is having no trouble at all.
For its 15th-anniversary season, the theater teamed with Time Warner, which subsidized an initiative that reduced ticket prices to every performance to just $15.
Results have been dramatic. The first three productions of the initiative -- Horton Foote's 'The Trip to Bountiful,' John Guare's 'Landscape of the Body' and August Wilson's 'Seven Guitars' -- have played to an average 105% capacity."

I think this is a great step in the right direction. It is good to see someone trying to make it affordable to see a show. For many people, the cost of a ticket is just too prohibitive, and that results in fewer ticket sales.

It is interesting in comparision with the article a few weeks ago about getting more subscribers for the symphony. While it is great now, what will happen if this parnership comes to an end? I wonder if the theatre will maintain any significant amount of audience, or if the numbers will return to what they were in the past.

Hopefully this initial step will make the theater more accessable, which would then increase the overall cultural standing. Then plays hopefully will be able to have the impact in which they can make changes to our culture, country, and world.
