Suburbia

New York Times: "How do you like your losers? Sunny side up or burned to a crisp? The all-American failure has been reclaiming the entertainment spotlight lately from the usual beat-the-odds winners, especially in movie comedies, whether winsome (“Little Miss Sunshine”) or raunchy (“Clerks II”)."

Besides the fact that this reviewer really doesn't seem to like this kind of play, I thought that the revisions to the script were interesting. The fact that they added ipods and blackberry and what have you is a swell idea. I would be curious to find out what music the sound designer chose. I remember seeing it here and reading it and the music that underscores the whole play is so important. I really liked this play when I read it and I would be interested to see this production. Oh, and in the slide show thing on the side of the article, the set designer said that he used things like real concrete and real windows for the shop and there are real drink coolers inside of it sitting on real floor tile underneath real flourescent lights. I wonder if it really required that they basically build a real mini sized 7-11 on stage? I would like to know more about this.
