RSC on mission to improve teaching of Bard in schools

The Stage: "Teaching Shakespeare - Time for Change calls for a more theatre-based approach to teaching the Bard, including giving every young person access to at least one live performance of a Shakespeare play during their school career."

Unfortunately, just because you see a Shakespeare play performed, it doesn't mean that you are going to learn more about it and like it any better. If you don't have the mindset for that kind of literature, then you just don't have it. This process may help some kids learn more about theatre, but I don't know that it will help them like Shakespeare any better. And lets face it - there are some really really awful productions of Shakespeare floating around out there.
