Open the Door Campaign to further disabled access to theatres

The Stage: "The Open the Door Campaign, led by charity Shape, will offer heavily subsidised disability awareness training to all theatres and arts venues across London. Courses will be tailored to everyone - from front of house and marketing staff to education and management teams - and can be provided in-house."

It is a wonderful idea to put disability access into theaters. It is an even better idea to train staff. I just wonder if it will solve the attitude problems in reference to being ignorant. I think mean people will always be mean, especially if they just don't like their job. I'm not sure if knowing more rules and procedures will necessarily make them nicer people to customers. Sounds like a personnel issue to me. Hiring people that genuinely love their job would be better than training ones that don't want to be there and seeing if they'll become "less rude."

i think this is such a good idea. education is the first step to change. ive been involved in disability awareness education and it is so eye opening to really experience what its like to not be able to walk or not be able to hear.
i couldn’t imagine what life would be like without theatre, so its good to know that people who might not of attend the theatre before will be able to start going and be taken care of.
