I think its a smart idea to do a season of new plays. Audiences get tired of seeing the same designs or hearing the same words. New Playwrites are more dynamic, have fresh ideas, and often times have strong visual images of what their play should look like. Their input can be a pain, but it can also be a huge help in interpretting the script. Knowing what is going on in a playwrites head is invaluable to me, and could potentially create an interesting collaboration between design, directing, and playwriting (and ultimately story-telling).
