Assistant/Associate Professor – Technical Direction

Ithaca College announces its search for a tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor – Technical Direction in the Department of Theatre Arts. This full-time appointment begins August 16, 2006. Duties: Teach Basic Theatre Technology, Stagecraft, Advanced Techniques of Stagecraft, Technical Direction, Seminar in Technical Production, and Senior Project in Technical Production; provide technical direction or supervise student technical directors for six mainstage department productions; provide production management for all department production activity. Supervise student production crews in scenery, props, and paint. Maintain scene shop and theatre facilities and equipment. Qualifications: MFA or terminal degree or significant professional experience required. Teaching experience at the college level and professional experience as a technical director and production manager preferred. The Department of Theatre Arts offers 120 courses to 260 majors within five degree programs: BFA in theatrical production arts (with concentrations in technical production and design), BFA in acting, BFA in musical theatre, BA in drama, and BS in theatre arts management. The department employs nineteen full-time faculty, two continuing adjunct faculty, and six staff members.
